In the cold winter months, many of us could use a couple of weeks in the sun and often you can actually save money if you plan your trip properly. Three cheap and warm destinations are Turkey, Egypt and Thailand.
Thailand
Thailand has been the Danish favorite holiday destination. Fantastic beaches, cultural experiences and good food attracts many. It’s hard to find a cheap flight to Thailand, understandably, when the country is on the other side of the globe, but when you are actually there, it is really cheap. There are big savings to book flight and hotel separately. A flight to Thailand costs about 4000-6000 kr, cheapest is with a stopover in Moscow or the Middle East.Hotels may be cheaper to book on a web site such as Hotels.com or Agoda.com. You can often get big discounts if you book well in advance.
Egypt
Egypt is another destination with much to offer. The Pyramids of Giza obviously must be seen, but most also take a side trip to Sharm El Sheikh or Hurghada for the sun, swimming and diving in some of the greatest reefs in the world. Egypt travel is done cheaply either on a holiday trip or all inclusive. Are you willing to take a chance on an unspecified hotel, there are many holiday packages sold as ‘Last minute rejser‘ the danish equivalent of last minute deals. Some of these are also sold as ‘afbudsrejser fra Billund lufthavn’, so do a search for those as well.
Turkey
Shrimp with Turkey is not quite as cheap as the other two, but still cheaper than, for example Greece. The season starts in spring and the first few weeks inside the cheapest and becomes so expensive towards summer. Alanya is a popular seaside resort and there are often holiday packages for small money, so keep an eye on holiday travel pages.
